The Women’s World Cup has been held on seven occasions with four teams claiming glory in the tournament’s history to date.


The USA are the successful team with three titles to their name including their win at the last tournament in 2015.


Germany have won it twice while Japan and Norway have each claimed a title.


The four winning countries have also each been runners-up on one occasions apiece while fellow beaten finalists include Brazil, China and Sweden.


UEFA are the most successful confederation in terms of final appearances with six.

Who won the last tournament?


The USA claimed glory at the 2015 World Cup, beating Japan 5-2 at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada.


The States raced into a four goal lead within the first 16 minutes with Carli Lloyd scoring a hat-trick and Lauren Holiday adding a fourth.


Tobin Heath netted in the second-half to complete the rout and secure a third title for The Stars and Stripes.

England lost to Japan in the semi-finals before beating Germany 1-0 after extra-time in the third place play-off.
