A sensational Victor Wanyama effort put them on course for the three points and Lucas Moura’s hat-trick made sure of it, with excellent work from several of his team-mates.

It a vital victory given they now must face Manchester City in Europe and then again in the Premier League next weekend.

But who were Mauricio Pochettino’s star men in the brilliant victory? Find out talkSPORT’S ratings below.

Hugo Lloris – 6/10

A lovely lazy Saturday morning for the Frenchman, he might not even have to wash his kit he was rarely needed.

Juan Foyth – 7/10

Fard more aggressive in possession than any of the other Spurs centre-backs and impressed with his passing and dribbling. He won the ball for the game’s second goal but was booked for a foul too.

Foyth guards the ball as Huddersfield attempt to win it back.

Davinson Sanchez – 6/10

Barely troubled all match, he merely swept the ball along the backline and acted as a last line of defence on the odd occasion when Huddersfield did get in dangerous positions.

Jan Vertonghen 7/10

A brilliant counter-press early on resulted in a chance for Llorente and he was exemplary throughout. The Premier League’s most consistent performer?

Vertonghen’s excellent work was rewarded.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 6/10

Looked to get down the flank whenever he could and kept things simple in possession. An easy game defensively, he’ll be glad for the 90 minutes on his 22nd birthday.

Ben Davies – 7/0

The Welshman did well when called upon and caused havoc in attacking positions two as he ran off Christian Eriksen.

Davies made several foray’s forward.

Victor Wanyama – 7/10

A shot from range whistled past the post early on and while his excellent goal will be the highlight he had a fine game on his return to the starting line up.

Moussa Sissoko – 8/10

A sensational roulette had fans cooing from the off and Huddersfield couldn’t handle his powerful surges downfield. His flicked pass put Lucas through for Spurs’ second. Has a player ever improved so much in a one-year period?

Sissoko ran riot in midfield.

Christian Eriksen – 7/10

Not a thrilling display but a measured one. He kept things ticking over and was involved in almost every attack. Pochettino will have been delighted and he should still have energy for Manchester City second leg.

Lucas Moura – 8/10

Had to be chopped down in the opening moments to stop him getting a shot away and provided the pace in attacking areas. He took his first goal fantastically, his second was impressive given his first touch, while the third was a sumptuous strike from Heung-Min Son’s assist. He will hope to be involved against City on Wednesday.

Lucas wellies the ball into the back of the net for Spurs’ second.

Fernando Llorente – 7/10

Dropped deep to win possession in the air and did well. It took him a while to get his link up play going and once he did he showed off his impressive footwork. Sadly a goal didn’t quite come his way.

Substitute: Oliver Skipp – 5/10

Kept things ticking over with some simple passes and some tactical fouls.

Substitute: Danny Rose – N/A

Only on the pitch for a few minutes.
