Tottenham legend Graham Roberts believes it’s written in the stars for Spurs to beat Manchester City and progress to the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men take a 1-0 lead to the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.
If Spurs manage to score, it means City will have to score three in reply to go through – owing to the away goals rule.
And, given Tottenham’s road to the quarter-finals when their chances of even making it out of the group stages looked slim earlier in the season, plus Ajax’s stunning underdog victory over Juventus on Tuesday, Roberts believes it’s fate for Spurs to make the last four.
Speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White, the former defender, part of the Spurs side that won the UEFA Cup and back-to-back FA Cups in the 80s, said: “I’m confident we will win tonight. I’m in no doubt. I truly believe.
“Look at last night with Ajax going to Juventus… it’s meant to be!
“If Aguero would have scored the penalty [in the first leg, which Lloris saved], you would have doubts because they would have had an away goal… but they never got the away goal.
“They never even looked like scoring at the new stadium.
“I have a real feeling. You look back, we could have gone out in the group stage, but what is meant to be is meant to be.
“I just believe since that day when we beat Inter Milan at home, we’ve been up there.

“We’re ready to go and we’re getting stronger as each round comes.
“I’m really positive. If we can get a goal tonight that would put a lot of pressure on City.
“Teams have gone there and beaten them, so they’re not unbeatable.
“I know Guardiola came out yesterday and said, ‘we’re going to be in the semi-final’, but I’m telling him: Tottenham will be in the semi-final.â€
