Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he views Community Shield as a trophy

Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City have won two trophies this season – and are gunning for three more.

City won the Carabao Cup in Feburary and will take on Watford in the FA Cup final in May.

They trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by two points with a game in hand and await Tottenham in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

The Argentina striker has missed City’s last two games with a muscular problem.

The City squad stayed in London after beating Brighton in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday, a decision Guardiola hopes will prove beneficial.

He said: ”I don’t know how fresh we are, I never know before. In the FA Cup we could have been better.

“Now all eight teams are contenders. It’s the first leg against a tough opponent and we will give it a good go.

“This team has shown they are incredibly focused playing every three days, that’s why we are here.

“We stayed in London to avoid airports, waking up earlier, one hour more, on the bus or the plane. We’ve been out, had lunch together, and it gives us more time to speak and to prepare.”
