Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne is certain Steven Gerrard is the man to finally bring the Scottish Premiership title back to Ibrox.
The Gers trail table toppers Celtic by ten points ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm showdown at Celtic Park.
Any remaining hope of beating their rivals to the crown this season will be shattered if they lose and, with Rangers out of both domestic cups, it looks as though Gerrard will end his debut season as a manager without any silverware.
But Gascoigne is confident the club’s wait for the title will not continue for too much longer under the former Liverpool and England captain.
Speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White, Gazza, who joined from Lazio in 1995, said: “What a great job it is for him, with those fans.
“I’m sure he can [lead Rangers to the title].
“The player he was, if he can turn to into the players as well and give them that inspiration, then obviously he’s got every chance.â€
Ahead of the latest Old Firm clash, the Ibrox hero hailed the historic rivalry and said he loved every one of the ‘incredible’ matches he played in during his successful Rangers spell.
“Those big games are massive,†Gazza added.
“I was lucky enough to play in 11, was unbeaten in 11 and got man-of-the-match in 11.
“Those derbies are incredible; I loved every one of them.â€
